I’ve been a reader far longer than I’ve been a Farm Wife, and even though many of my weekends are now spent doing housework and various garden projects, I still read. {Thus the blog/site name}. And after receiving a pair of AirPods for Christmas, I’m able to do more weekend reading – thanks to digital audio loans from my Library. All that to say: in addition to our garden adventures, and all the “farm life” things I will share here, I also want to share the reading. It’s what I do {my day job is in the Library}, and who I am, and so the Farm Wife Reads. Expect to see book reviews on occasion, and possibly even some rambling fangirl posts about authors/upcoming releases, and also these monthly recaps. I tried this once before, on a different platform, and found that looking back over the month at-a-glance made for some interesting observations.
And so, without further ado … the Reads of February.

It was a varied month, with mysteries featuring prominently, but also a return to “Austenesque” reading {oh, I have missed you!} and discovering a new author who writes with a familiar voice. My favorite book, hands-down, was Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries, which had all the warm cosiness of a familiar and well-loved fairy tale, while being completely new. Until the second installment is published {next year?!}, I will have to explore Fawcett’s backlist … there’s a newly-published middle-grades novel – The Grace of Wild Things – that is calling my name for sure.
All of February’s reads were courtesy of my Library, which is great for my bank account, but not so great re: making progress on reading the books I already own. Ah well, better luck next month – the books aren’t going anywhere.
