Spring Livin’

I was so excited to spy these wee berries hiding.

We’re in a bit of garden-limbo at the moment: it’s not quite time to set out/transplant our seedlings, and everything planted earlier is settling in and doing its growing thing. The peas are stretching up their trellis, and so close to blooming. The strawberries have bloomed prolifically (and still are), and are starting to show tiny berries. It’s a growing interval, with little need for our intervention. So we’re waiting for our next turn. And plotting!

Over the weekend we walked the garden patch, counting the empty/available growbags, so we could decide how many peppers and tomatoes to keep and plant, as well as where in the line-up they will go. If everything goes accordingly to plan, we should be in for a very bountiful harvest season. {I am both excited and mildly panicked by this, ha}.

The weekend was absolutely glorious weather-wise, after a gloomy wet Friday, so Saturday found us spending as much time as possible soaking up the sun and fresh {pollen-laden} air. We made our first greenhouse run of the season, hunting down geraniums, and found some beauties. Geraniums have been hit-or-miss for me in the past, but I’m crossing my fingers these will work out and give us lots of pink and coral blooms all summer.

One exciting development: we bought a building! Isn’t she cute? I feel so official and farmer-y now, with an actual outbuilding, ha. Now that we have somewhere to store tools and supplies, our carport can stop being a “shed” and start being an outdoor room. Huzzah! Moving things into the building took most of our Saturday, but it’s looking so good. I cannot wait to get a few things to pull it together into an actual living space. The new geraniums are going to be the “gatekeepers” marking a festive entrance to our space.

Beyond that, we mostly enjoyed the weather and the beautiful blooming, growing things in our garden as well as the cousin-neighbor’s flower patch. A lovely, relaxing – but productive! – weekend, and so very needed.
