In the moment, I thought I was doing good reading during April, but looking at the recap, it’s a little sparse, ha. Between spending lots of time outside, and traveling with Mr for a work conference/mini getaway, the reading fell through the cracks. But you know what? That’s a-okay. I’m a firm believer in reading for myself, and that means I’m not in a competition. Yes, I set a Goodreads goal, but that’s for kicks and giggles {I’ve only reached and/or surpassed it twice, most recently last year}. I’m more interested in reading things I enjoy, and in that regard it was definitely a good reading month.

📱 House of Earth and Blood (Sarah J Maas) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
For the first time this year, I also marked a book DNF [Did Not Finish]. Despite loving all the other Jenny Colgan books I’ve read, I was unable to get through 500 Miles from You. I spent the better part of 6 weeks trying to read it, and just could not get into/I didn’t really like any of the characters/it felt not right. So I finally bailed, and felt much better about things. {You’ll notice I didn’t link that one – since I didn’t like it, it would feel wrong to promote it that way}.
Other than the one DNF, I thoroughly enjoyed my April reading – small as it was. I did leave 2 stranded, so May will get a little bit of a boost right off the bat, and then it’s open sailing for destinations unknown!
What did you read and love {or not finish, as the case may be} in April?
