Reading Recap: April

April turned out to be a shockingly good reading month! Going into the month, I really wasn’t sure how things would turn out – after all, I lost my lunch-hour reading sessions. But I picked up more evening/before bed reading time, and I’ve rekindled the love for audiobooks. I’ve been joining Mr. on his {near} daily walks, and it’s the perfect way to get in some solid audiobook time. They’re also super great for projects around the house too, which makes me feel extra productive. Keep scrolling to find out what I read, and how I rated it!

Titles & Star-Ratings (with format!):
📖 The Royal Game (Linda Keir) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📱 The Love Remedy (Elizabeth Everett) ⭐⭐1/2
🎧 The Dead Letter Delivery (CJ Archer) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 Enchantment (Katherine May) ⭐⭐⭐1/2
📖 Expiration Dates (Rebecca Serle) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🎧 Eleanor & Park (Rainbow Rowell) ⭐⭐⭐
📖 Ana Maria and the Fox (Liana de la Rosa) ⭐⭐⭐1/2
📖 Mastering the Art of French Murder (Colleen Cambridge) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 The Mona Lisa Vanishes (Nicholas Day) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🎧 Same Time Next Summer (Annabel Monaghan) ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

As you can see by the stars, reading was a little all over the place – I was particularly disappointed that The Love Remedy didn’t live up to expectations {or the author’s previous series}. But when the next installment releases, I’ll still read it! Enchantment was another one that didn’t quite live up to the hype – or perhaps I just was not in the place to read something so pandemic-heavy. Pleasant surprises were The Royal Game, which was honestly somewhat wacky, but so much fun to read; also Mastering the Art of French Murder: Julia Child and amateur sleuthing are an excellent pairing.

I did leave 2 books stranded: an audio and a physical book, but I’m okay with that. “Summer Reading” looks to be a good one this year, with lots of exciting new releases to come – and a good deal of backlist to catch up on as well. Maybe I should do a Summer Reading feature of sorts … What say y’all?

What was your best read of April? What are you most looking forward to picking up in May?
