I’ve decided to make these “pictorial recaps” a regular thing. It’s a good way to share pictures taken during the month that don’t necessarily “belong” to a post of their own. And looking back at the month in images is such a lovely thing, reminding me of the moments of joy that may have been lost in chaos otherwise.
I love the rusty color of these sunflowers; one of the few in my wildflower mix that made it past the clover, ha.
The camera doesn’t do justice to the intensity of the blue on the wings and body of this butterfly.Fun fact: this is actually an Asian Lady Beetle, not a “regular” ladybug. (I just learned the difference myself, ha).
We have at least 2 monarchs who are regular visitors these days. Next year, we want to have a patch of butterfly weed for them.
This guy was chilling in the freshly harrowed field along our drive one morning. He took flight just as I was sneaking his picture.
The golden hour, with the golden light, on the golden flowers.
“It was August, and the fields were high with corn.” ~ Melanie Gideon
August’s greatest gift is perhaps the return of fall skies … this truly is the season with the most spectacular sunsets, and we have an incredible view of the western sky.
Geese flying in formation, over the cornfield, with the setting sun.
August’s last surprise gift: the blue supermoon setting early this morning, with the last of Hurricane Idalia’s outer cloud bands.
Nice shot on that heron in midflight! This is as close as I’ve gotten:

That’s not too shabby either! They’re such majestic birds, but so hard to get.
