Thankful

The holiday season is about to kick into high gear, and I love that it starts with Thanksgiving. A time we set aside to remember and express gratitude for the blessings in our lives. It’s so easy to get swept away by the mundane chaos of everyday life, distracted from what we do have by the demands on our time and the pressures of society. But on Thanksgiving, we collectively stop and breathe, just for a moment. {The delicious food shared with family is an added bonus}.

Instead of waiting until the end of the month to feature moments that gave my heart joy, I’m sharing them today – with a heart of thankfulness.

I am thankful for stunning blue skies and sun that glimmers, and the way lemons swell and turn gold as the winter comes.
I am thankful for the cousins’ kitty that comes to visit and help me in the garden.
I am thankful for the mornings I’m able to walk with Mr. before work, and clouds that dance in the sky.
I am thankful for the riot of color that is fall; this year has been particularly lovely to watch the slow emergence of golds and oranges and reds, mingling with the brown and lingering greens.
I am thankful for the surprise of a hardy monarch, on a cold day.
I am thankful for the skies that continue to dazzle and amaze, as fall slowly bends toward winter {when stars will rule supreme}.

I am thankful for every day of this life I’ve been given, for the people I share it with – my husband, our families, the friends who have become family. It’s a quiet life, but it’s all I dreamed of, and more.

I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving {and if you’re an international reader: I hope you have a lovely day, with a tasty treat and a pause to reflect on your own blessings}, and may the approaching holiday season be one of light and peace for us all.
