Whew. What a January! Does anyone else feel like the month was at least two weeks longer than normal? At least I managed to start the year off with some really fantastic reading.

Titles & Star-Ratings (with format!):
📖 Lessons in Chemistry (Bonnie Garmus) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 Endgame (Omid Scobie)
🎧 Assistant to the Villain (Hannah Nicole Maehrer) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 The Proof of the Pudding (Rhys Bowen) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 The Belle of Belgrave Square (Mimi Matthews) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 Old-Fashioned on Purpose (Jill Winger) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📱 The Arctic Curry Club (Dani Redd) ⭐⭐⭐1/2
As you can see, nearly everything I read got a very high star-rating {with the exception of Endgame, because I make it a practice not to rate some nonfiction books}. If that’s not a stellar way to start a year’s reading, I don’t know what is. January was also my first successful month reading one BOTM [Book of the Month] selection and one from my own shelves. I want to do better about managing both of those this year.
There was a “stranded book,” but that’s not the end of the world. {I’m far more willing to leave a book hanging from month-to-month than at the year’s end}. And I am very, very excited about February reading. Namely: House of Flame & Shadow. That’s the only thing on my TBR {aside from the “BOTM Selection” and “Read My Shelf” notations}, and I’m reading it with my work bestie, so we can help each other survive the emotional turmoil we feel certain lurks in the pages.
How did your 2024 reading begin? Discover something fabulous? Or maybe you’ve already had the pleasure of marking something DNF? Tell me all your bookish news!
