Hello, Spring

In true Carolina fashion, our lead-up to Spring has featured crispy-cool nights and delightfully sunny afternoons. And nothing says “Spring Equinox Day” like dipping below freezing for the morning low. We laugh about it, and sometimes we whimper, but it’s just the nature of the weather here … At least Spring is coming. And to celebrate, an assortment of photographed moments that have brought joy the last few weeks.

The blooms are so gorgeous this year: some things seem to be awakening earlier than usual, while others are taking their time, but they’re all showing off! I love seeing them, and the bees are loving them too. The redbuds are just starting to open and the big fat bumblebees are all over them {but entirely too excited to be still long enough for a picture, sigh}.

In the latest installment of “Rebecca will borrow everyone’s animals,” sunny afternoons are perfect for sneaking in some kitty cuddles. Those tiny purple flowers are some of my favorite signs of spring – they’re just so tiny! As are all the little frogs showing up near the beeyard, ha. So many little froggies! Apparently it was perfect frog-egg conditions this year, because wow. Here’s hoping that means we have fewer mosquitoes this summer.

The moment of Equinox will occur at 11:06pm EDT tonight, and tomorrow we’ll wake up to Spring. That’s a beautiful thing, friends. We’ve made it through the Winter, and a new season awaits – with limitless promise and potential. Let’s savor the possibilities!
