This little blog turned 1 on February 24th {how is that even possible?}, and after all that time, I think it’s time we formally introduced ourselves. The short and sweet version is on the About page, but if you’re going to join us on the journey, we should get to know each other better.
The Farm Wife
After 11+ years as a Librarian {not counting the years spent working as a student}, I am now a full-time farm wife. While we don’t officially have a farm {yet}, I’m happily claiming the title – after all, we do have a garden and bees!
Favorite Garden Chore: Tending the baby sprouts as they emerge and grow. I also find both watering and weeding strangely therapeutic.
Reads: Everything! Ha. No really, if there are words on something, I’ll read them. In terms of authors, I read a wide range: from Jane Austen to Sarah J Maas to JRR Tolkien to Sophie Kinsella to Lucy Foley to Sarah Dessen, and more. I love a good story, and will reread the ones that resonate over and over.
Loves: Walks in the woods with Mr.; cats {although I’ve discovered I’m allergic}; talking to the bees and bunnies that visit our garden; cookies; wildflowers; making things; and, of course, reading.
The Farmer, aka “Mr.”
With a day-job in the financial sector, staring at a screen all day, time spent outside in the garden is essential for Mr.’s mental health and well-being.
Favorite Garden Chore: Harvesting. Also experimenting with growing techniques.
Reads: Nonfiction mostly, primarily history with some economical/social commentaries for good measure. Also likely to pick up books on beekeeping, Japanese woodworking, and other garden/farm-related subjects.
Loves: Coffee, chocolate, and cinnamon rolls, haha.

Our Story
We met, appropriately enough, in American Literature 2 at the community college, many moons ago. After pairing up for a group project about Cold Mountain, a friendship began that spanned college and beyond, until we finally woke up and got married. “Friends to Lovers” is my favorite romance trope, because that is our story, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Having grown up reading The Little House books over and over, and always finding myself happier when I could have my hands in the dirt, I was delighted by the prospect of joining Mr. in his gardening adventures. I’ve learned a lot {especially about bees!}, and nothing tastes as good as eating things you’ve grown with your own hands – except for maybe sharing your bountiful harvests with friends and family.
The plan is to grow into a farm/homestead, using many old-fashioned practices, with some modern twists and conveniences. This blog is partly personal, recording our experiments and experiences, while also sharing the journey and what we learn along the way with you.
Thanks for joining our adventures, and we hope to see you around our corner of the internet often!

beautiful photos. What is happening in NC really is so sad and crazy. Just heartbreaking. My mom was born in FarmVille and her family lived in Jacksonville for years. They were always on alert for hurricane law but not so much the western side. In 2011 our state had a similar situation. We live in a hilly area and Tropical Storm Sandy halted over us and dumped 30 some inches of rain on our area and our business districts were flooded and homes were absolutely destroyed. Some roads were destroyed but nothing like NC.

Happy belated blog birthday! I’m totally hooked on your farm wife tales. Your transition from librarian to tending baby sprouts and bees is so inspiring, and I can relate to finding peace in the garden (watering and even weeding is my therapy too!). Mr. sounds like a gem—harvesting and experimenting with growing techniques while balancing a desk job is no small feat. Your “friends to lovers” story is the sweetest, and I’m excited to follow along as you grow toward that farm dream. Thanks for inviting us into your world—can’t wait to read more!
