Auroras in Carolina

Friday night, we had an incredibly rare experience: the auroras borealis were visible here in North Carolina. Not only visible, but stunning. Thanks to a series of strong solar storms, there were impressive auroral displays across much of the globe – and so many spectacular pictures shared.

I’ve wanted to see the Northern Lights my entire life, even looking up trip options now and then, never thinking I’d have the opportunity to see them – and so strongly – from my own home. We spent over an hour outside, with the cousins, watching the sky – eventually forgetting to take pictures, as we marveled at the show taking place. We gasped and “oooooh”-ed and squealed “look, look, look!” as the lights danced across the sky, flickering and flaring, color seeping and shifting. And the stars shining through it all. Enjoy this sampling of the gloriousness we witnessed.

Were you able to witness the auroras?

    • Thank you! 🙂 I was amazed at all the colors we were able to see! The sun is still “burping” so maybe there will be more auroras? 🤞 hehe
