Reading Recap: May

After a stunning reading month in April, and a very busy May, I’m counting the 6 books finished in May as a win. Plus, almost all of them were such good reads. Keep scrolling to see what I read and how I rated it, followed by some thoughts.

Titles & Star-Ratings (with format!):
📖 Women of Good Fortune (Sophie Wan) ⭐⭐⭐
🎧 Funny Story (Emily Henry) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 An Improbable Season (Rosalyn Eves) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 The Funeral Ladies of Ellerie County (Claire Swinarski) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🎧 Summers at the Saint (Mary Kay Andrews) ⭐⭐1/2
📖 Miss Morgan’s Book Brigade (Janet Skeslien Charles) ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

On the whole, May’s reading was much better than April’s – even if I didn’t finish quite as many. I only had one book with a low-ish star rating, and one DNF {but I count those as something of a win, since it means I didn’t force myself to keep reading something I wasn’t vibing with}. Funny Story was the best read – I absolutely loved Henry’s portrayals of library life, while the overall premise was outlandish and entertaining. Miss Morgan’s Book Brigade also featured librarian life, and was a moving story about life near the Front Line in WWI France.

Going into June, and summer, I’m not sure what my reading will look like – the garden is starting to kick things into high-gear, and will need more attention – but I am excited about my Summer of Jane reading program. There are so many new books releasing this summer, my TBR is growing almost as fast as the tomatoes!

How did your May reading go? Discover something amazing, or did you uncover duds?

What’s on your agenda – reading or otherwise – for June? Will you be reading some Jane with me?

  1. I felt the same way about Summers at the Saint – very disappointing and ended up being just an ok read for me. I really enjoyed Funny Story, too. You can’t go wrong with Emily Henry and I like it on audio b/c of Julia Whelan’s narration. Looks like you had a great reading month!

  2. I really need to read something by Emily Henry sometime, I have quire a few of her books on my TBR and they generally seem to receive such positive reviews. I’m glad the books you read were mostly good last month.

    • I still need to read Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation, but I’ve enjoyed the rest – Happy Place was my least favorite, so far, but mainly because I can’t stand when people don’t just *talk* already, lol 🙂 They’ve very summery books
