Glimpses of June

Y’all. Summer is here. The solstice came and went, but even before we were baking in the heat … and in dire need of some rain. In spite of all this, June has still featured some glorious moments.

Summer is critter season, and even a whole post isn’t enough room to document all the life to be found in the garden and beyond. So let’s share a few more, shall we? Especially since I was finally able to snag a few bunny pictures – we have many, including quite a few littles, but they’re so busy it’s hard to catch them still.

Perhaps my favorite part of the longer, warmer days is the return of color and blooms.

I’ve missed being able to pop out and cut fresh flowers for my house, and having enough to share. You can buy flowers in the winter, but they’re not quite the same. There’s an extra vibrancy to the ones you grow yourself {or that family/friends grow and share with you!}.

June’s Strawberry Moon put on a show for us – I hate I wasn’t able to capture the rising: such deep gold and it appeared so gloriously huge on the horizon. {We were driving, and stopping in the middle of a bridge didn’t seem like a safe idea, ha}. I did capture the moon and stars once it was up a little higher, and then a surprise daytime moonshot a few days later.

The one true positive to our stretch of 90* days is that it heated the pool water up beautifully – it was a very comfortable 88* for our first swim, and I’ve got a hunch it’ll only get warmer as the days go by. Looking forward to more evenings floating in the water and watching the world go by.

How has your Summer started? Do you have anything exciting planned?

  1. I looove this post! I’ve always been a flower girlie, though I live in the city and it’s difficult to grow plants here. We have a few potted plants to grow mostly vegetables. 😀 Those first five photos of flowers–are they all the same? They’re so stunning!!!

    • Oh I would feel so lost if I couldn’t have flowers somewhere! But yay for at least being able to grow veggies! 😀 And yes, those are all the same kind of flower (also the same kind as in the blue bucket): they’re zinnias, and one of my absolute favorites to grow. They’re also super easy/user-friendly and very forgiving 😉 I love how they come in SO MANY colors ❤
