Glimpses of December

It’s been a little quiet around here, but such is the way of things – and this time of year is made for hibernation and slowing down, in all areas of life. {Rest assured I have been brainstorming and planning things for this little corner of the interwebz! I have high hopes for 2025}. It’s the time of year for quiet and cozy … and deep-cleaning the house, apparently. Mr. and I have just finished tackling things room-by-room, and we’ve got a lovely, tidy {and in some cases rearranged!} house heading into the new year. I even took advantage of the “warm spell” yesterday to open the windows and do a “fresh air exchange” and it was so wonderful.

December may have been cold and quiet, but even in the shortest days you can find moments of joy. Not to mention the delight of riding around looking at Christmas lights, which is one of my favorite things to do and happened quite frequently this year {making up for missing out on so much last year, when we were sick}.

Fuzzy baby cows are the cutest.
The sky has featured many “sun dogs” ahead of the weather changes.
And surprisingly brilliant sunsets too.
The sun has looked like molten gold so many evenings.
When it “warmed up,” we got fog …
Little cabbage trying its hardest to make for us, but the cold is hard …
So pleased my viola experiment appears to be working!
Winter stars are, and forever will be, my favorite.

I know this time of year is difficult for many, but my hope for you all is that this has been a season of peace and joy, even the small, simple joys – which are sometimes the best. May the new year bring you a new sense of wonder and eyes that always find the beauty. May you have delightful adventures and also find time to rest and savor. And books of course, may all your books be good!

  1. Happy New Year. I hope 2025 treats you wonderfully and I look forward to discovering your blogging plans.

You’re definitely right, that cow is utterly adorable 😍😍 and you’ve got some gorgeous sky pictures again. Like you I love seeing festive lights and I do have a tendency to try and ‘spring’ clean completely out of season too. I hope you had a lovely Christmas 🎄 and hope that 2025 brings lots of new favourites your way.
