Garden progress report

The world is officially green again – from both vegetation and pollen. Seriously, this year has been absolutely ridiculous on the pollen-count; I can only assume our lack of rain has been a contributing factor. Pollen {and no rain} aside, our garden is looking so very good this year. While we’re waiting for the eventual harvest, let’s take a quick look at how things are growing.

Tomatoes and peppers hardening off.
The plan is to get these in bags this weekend.
Our green beans made it through the Freeze Watch last week just fine.
But the Frost Advisory this past Sunday nipped them. Hopefully they’ll grow out of it.
The sugar-snap peas meanwhile are very happy.
Checking every day for the first bloom.
After taking forever to germinate, our squash look amazing.
Very excited to have this variety again this year.
The broccoli is coming along.
Our potatoes have decided to kick it into high-gear!
The Norland Reds are even starting to show buds.
The cabbages are thriving.
A few strawberry plants have survived, and are trying their best to produce.
These violas are absolutely stunning.
I’m very pleased to have sold some as well!
The sage overwintered nicely and is about to burst into bloom.
The fava beans are blooming, and this variety has the most striking black spots.

This time of year is so exciting, walking through the garden every day {sometimes multiple times}, checking to see how much things have grown and hunting for the first blooms. We even harvested some of our lettuce this week, and there’s something extra special about eating your own salad. I can’t wait until we can add peas and squash and tomatoes and peppers and potatoes … YUM!

If you’re growing anything this year, from flowers to veggies, how does your garden grow?

I am pretty pleased to have discovered my green thum lool she has 3 flowers pink and white and not has 3 more growing! I repoted her about a month ago and by the looks of it it is not mini anymore haha have to find a bigger pot!

  2. Looks pretty! Now that Easter is around the corner I have the folklore sanction to plant. (“There’s always one more freeze before winter!”) Still planning on okra, cucumbers, squash, and maybe peppers.

  3. Those violas are absolutely stunning 😍 it looks like everything is doing well, I hope the green beans recover from the frost and that the strawberries thrive more as the weather improves. The sugar snap peas look like they’re doing fantastically though. It sounds promising potato wise too as weren’t they one of the vegetables you struggled with before?

    • I am a little in love with the violas 😍 hehe … The green beans look like they’re starting to grow out of it {just looked at them, ha}! Yay! The sugar snaps are doing so very well, and I’m still stalking that first bloom. Potatoes have been a struggle in part because we could never get our hands on seed potatoes 🙃😂 There still wasn’t the greatest selection this spring, but hopefully they’ll come through – so far they’re looking good.

      • I’m not surprised, they’re gorgeous 😍 yay that’s wonderful to hear about the beans. Ah right, that’s a pain that they were tricky to get hold of. I look forward to seeing how they go this year. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for wonderful results 🤞
