It is an exciting time in our little corner of the world: the garden is growing – thriving, really – and we’re starting something new. After watching other channels for some time, we’ve decided to add our own to the mix, and voila! The Farm Wife Reads is on YouTube. This blog {and Instagram} will remain the primary outlet for sharing and recording our adventures, but YouTube will let us offer a little bit more. Like today’s post for example: not only can you read about how our garden is growing, and see photographs, but you can also join me on a morning garden walk. As I said: exciting times, friends, exciting times.
With the “business” taken care of, I promised you a garden tour … Let’s see what is growing.

The leaves are enormous.

These are the ones we’re growing to save for seed.
Now that we’ve had our up-close discussion of things, we can take a wander and see how it grows as a whole. We are so pleased with the way things are growing, and the overall look of the garden this year. As you watch, you’ll notice the grass growing up around the growbags. Sadly, that’s the downside of using them: you have to hand-cut the grasses that grow up alongside them, because a weed-eater will slice the bag. {We learned the hard way, so you don’t have to}. It is also time to start trellising the tomatoes and cucumbers, which should be done by the next garden tour.
If you’ve enjoyed the walk-through, please “like and subscribe” to the YouTube channel so you’re always up to date! While many of the full-length/long-form videos we have in mind will be cross-posted here, I’m also hoping to get some shorts and other fun things going. The last time I did video editing was college, which was a while ago – and involved an actual camcorder and all kinds of old technology. So this is definitely a learning curve, but I’m having fun.
How does your garden grow?
Enjoyed the tour, Rebecca. Your garden is thriving! Subscribed 🙂

Wow! I wish I was your next-door neighbour. I don’t have a green thumb (or the time right now, unfortunately), but my goal in retirement is to have at least a small veggie garden. This is next level.
I’m going to have a salad for lunch (unfortunately with produce sourced from a grocery store, not my back yard), and I have a feeling you’d approve!

Our first year married I was absolutely floored when Mr told me how many tomato plants we were gonna grow… flash forward to this year and I’m like “yeah, we could probably put some late tomatoes in here once the peas come out, get a few more before summer ends” 😂 It’s been a huge learning experience, but I’ve fallen in love with it 🩷
Yay salad lunch! 😋 and store bought produce totally still counts 🙃
