This is the time of year when the garden is changing almost daily, so there’s a huge change in the way things look when compared to May’s garden tour. It’s so exciting!
Join my morning garden walk in the video below, and make sure you watch to the end for a special guest appearance by The Flock.
You can see we’ve started the new trellis-and-trim technique for tomatoes. After having such lush greens last year, but not as many tomatoes, we decided to try this approach. It’s too early to tell how it will work, but we can already tell it’ll be easier to harvest tomatoes when the time comes!
I’m also using the trellis clips on the cucumbers {and peppers, but they grow much, much slower}, and it’s making a world of difference. I’m considering cleaning up some of the understory leaves on the cucumber vines as well, especially as they keep growing.
We’ve been eating from the garden, and even sharing produce overflow with friends and family {which is our favorite part}. Nothing, and I mean nothing, tastes like homegrown. These cucumbers are so good, it makes me wonder why I even try the off-season ones at the store. Waiting for tomatoes and peppers to ripen; they need more of these hot days that are trying to melt me.
The garden this year continues to impress us, and we love walking through and seeing how much everything grows daily.
It’s coming along nicely! I enjoyed the video!

My husband has always wanted to trellis tomatoes after seeing Roots and Refuge do it. I am excited to see how it works for you all.

In the past we’ve trellised them up the panels by tying them up with yarn/string, which was a LOT of work, ha. So far I am really liking this process, and hopefully it’ll result in a much better tomato harvest 😀 I’ll definitely keep everyone posted! 😉
