Cool Bloggers Walking Club

One of my new favorite bloggers is hosting a virtual month-long walking club, where she challenges those participating to walk/move for 10 minutes a day. Clearly this post is coming well into the month of October, but Life has a way of mixing up our schedules sometimes. Regardless, if you want to know more, you can check out Elisabeth’s detail post here and follow up FAQs.

Since I’m about halfway through the month, I figured I might as well give a rundown of my walking so far, and give another final report at the end of the month.

October 1st: Walking 3 miles at Monticello {on our anniversary getaway, more pictures coming soon!}. This was a big step day and what a gorgeous one for kicking off a month of walking!

October 2nd: My 10+ minutes came in the form of a much needed visit to the grocery store, once we got home from our little escape. {Hey, it was fast-paced walking!}

October 3rd: Walking took the form of watering the garden and getting things out of the yard for Mr. to mow.

October 4th: Clearing out all of the nearly-dead summer flowers, and getting things ready for overwintering. We put in a solid day of garden work, and my ankle told me about it.

October 5th: Quick errands added up, followed by some grape picking at my parents’.

October 6th: Began a massive garden + flower expansion project, complete with a delivery of 15-yards of dirt.

October 7th: Filling. All. The. Growbags. Walking with some weight training.

October 8th: Today’s walking happened mostly in the house, making many trips back and forth from the kitchen to the office closet, as we made kraut and grape juice.

October 9th: The vacation+staycation has ended, and with Mr. back at work, our daily walking has resumed. Proud of myself for being back to the whole 1 hour!

October 10th: Another grocery store walk.

October 11th: All kinds of cooking delicious things in the kitchen, before heading outside to put together a new flowerbed for next year’s zinnias.

October 12th: My body {and the weather} demanded a rest day.

October 13th: A morning spent volunteering at a local food pantry: sorting donations and breaking down empty boxes.

October 14th: Walking all over the bookstore trying to find the books on my list, followed by a leisurely stroll through the urban garden where we got married – always a favorite walk, especially this time of year.

October 15th: Definitely counting the process of preparing growbags and sowing 2000 pansy seeds. There were trips back and forth, there was bending and stretching, there was dragging the water hose. Total workout, but cannot wait to see these in bloom in a few months!

October 16th: Halfway through! Another regularly scheduled daily walk, for an hour. There was much sunshine, and a lot of wooly worms on the move! Weather changes are coming.

There’s something satisfying about walking, and recording the walking, knowing there’s such a large group of us spending the month moving together. Elisabeth is posting weekly recaps, complete with pictures, and it’s just the most fun way to celebrate October!

I wonder where the steps will come to finish the month?
