More auroras

Not only did Tuesday bring us our first snow, but that night the aurora borealis returned! If you’ve been here a while, you may remember we had auroras visible in May and again in October of last year. Each of those experiences was breathtakingly gorgeous and awe-inspiring, and I was able to check a bucket list item off from the comfort of home. Then they returned!

Massive solar flares/storms have been firing the last week, and apparently yesterday the strongest hit Earth, but during the day, so last night we weren’t able to see more. Tuesday, however? Beautiful. It is amazing how different each “show” has been, but I am awestruck every time.

By the end, we were able to see them with our naked eye – not as intensely as the photos are able to capture, but you could see the pinks and reds washing across the sky.

Were you able to see the auroras this week?
I’ve seen some stunning photos from across the nation.

    • Oh man, so close! I knew there’d been solar storms = we had a chance, but didn’t realize it was going to be so good. We went out just to check and see and were pleasantly surprised to see pink in the sky!
