When holiday festivities started accumulating, and I found myself reading less, I made the executive decision to extend My Christmas is Booked through the whole 12 Days of Christmas. Those extra days seemed necessary, especially when I ended up greeting the new year with a nasty cold. While that extension did not equate a big boost in books read, it did allow me to finish one from a dear friend I was determined to read.

I was able to pull from my Fast & Festive list for this novella, and it was such a lovely read.

My {completed} December reads were exclusively festive in nature, and that was fun. Christmas at the Ranch ended up being the perfect final read of the year as well.

There is something so fabulous about reading a book and being able to say “I know the author!” I met Geeta many, many years ago, when she was one of my first-ever author interviews for my book blog. We hit it off and have been internet besties ever since.
On the whole, I’m pleased with my holiday reading season! I didn’t manage everything on my “official” TBR {and let’s be honest: I did not expect that to happen}, but I picked up some fun bonus reads, and it was a good reading season. In fact, I read more festive books this year than in either of the previous years I’ve done this blog/reading campaign. I read 8 books in both 2024 and 2023, but this year I managed 11! Every year I end up finding more holiday reads than I can manage … maybe 2026 is the year I finally do a “Christmas in July” to help play catch up.
How did your festive reading go?
What was the best book you read during this season?
If you are not a festive reader, has anything I’ve shared caught your attention?
My ‘festive’ reading was limited to Advent-related stuff — a history of the Book of Common Prayer, which my church uses, and then a revisit to Narnia. I was mostly reading history, but Wendell Berry’s new book MARCE CATLETT was really good. I devoured it in one evening.
