When holiday festivities started accumulating, and I found myself reading less, I made the executive decision to extend My Christmas is Booked through the whole 12 Days of Christmas. Those extra days seemed necessary, especially when I ended up greeting the new year with a nasty cold. While that extension did not equate a big boost in books read, it did allow me to finish one from a dear friend I was determined to read.

I was able to pull from my Fast & Festive list for this novella, and it was such a lovely read.

My {completed} December reads were exclusively festive in nature, and that was fun. Christmas at the Ranch ended up being the perfect final read of the year as well.

There is something so fabulous about reading a book and being able to say “I know the author!” I met Geeta many, many years ago, when she was one of my first-ever author interviews for my book blog. We hit it off and have been internet besties ever since.
On the whole, I’m pleased with my holiday reading season! I didn’t manage everything on my “official” TBR {and let’s be honest: I did not expect that to happen}, but I picked up some fun bonus reads, and it was a good reading season. In fact, I read more festive books this year than in either of the previous years I’ve done this blog/reading campaign. I read 8 books in both 2024 and 2023, but this year I managed 11! Every year I end up finding more holiday reads than I can manage … maybe 2026 is the year I finally do a “Christmas in July” to help play catch up.
How did your festive reading go?
What was the best book you read during this season?
If you are not a festive reader, has anything I’ve shared caught your attention?
My ‘festive’ reading was limited to Advent-related stuff — a history of the Book of Common Prayer, which my church uses, and then a revisit to Narnia. I was mostly reading history, but Wendell Berry’s new book MARCE CATLETT was really good. I devoured it in one evening.

Narnia is always a good idea in December! Advent-related is arguably the most seasonally appropriate festive reading 🙂 One year I want to mix in some Advent reading. The cover of Marce Catlett is gorgeous!

Im glad you got on so wonderfully with this event and got to discover lots of new festive reads. Its wonderful that you enjoyed all of them too and very exciting to hear that you know the author of one. How lovely 🥰
My favourite Christmas read was Good Spirits. Its the only one I picked up so thats kind of a given but I did adore it. The romance had a lovely mix of spice and heart melting moments and I was oddly enamoured with the unusual afterlife system.
I cant wait to see what you pick up for the festive season next year. When I will 100% finally read my Nutcracker retelling & the Ally Carter ebook I picked up after you mentioned it in 2024 😂

Oooh, I have been hearing so much buzz about that one! I debated jumping on the library holds for it, but it was a looooong list, lol … Sounds like one I may need to circle back to 🙂
That Ally Carter book is SO good! 😀 Isn’t it fun that we can already be excited for festive reading, 10-11 months in advance? lol

I was really surprised to get a copy via the library tbh as I didnt exactly plan in advance. Hopefully you can pick it up either at Christmas or during July if you do decide to try your Christmas in July out this year. The bright side of getting to it later is that if you enjoy it, it sounds like the author is returning to the world it’s set within and you’ll have less of a wait for the next one 😉
Christmas is barely over and we’re already looking ahead to the next one 😂
