If you aren’t sure what the FJIG Collective is and/or would like to catch up on Week 1, you can find that here. For more joyful moments, you can check out Elisabeth’s Week 1 community recap.
February 8th: On a cold, grey, damp, and frankly miserable day, there is something extra wonderful about delicious food and curling up under a blanket to watch the Olympics.
February 9th: The sun came out after several cold grey days, and the chickens’ favorite dust-bath location was apparently open for business. They made a “poultry pile” for some communal grooming, and it was hilariously adorable.
Bonus FJIG: Mr made the most amazing guacamole to go with our burrito pan dinner.
February 10th: Y’all. The sun is out full force and we are well above freezing! Like in the 60s. It was warm enough to uncover my pansies and do some flower work, and then I indulged in some quality time with the chickens. Pecan was especially glad to get cuddles and climb all over my shoulders.
Bonus FJIG: A dazzlingly bright sun dog in the sky!
February 11th: Family dinner night with my parents, brother + his fam, which meant not only lots of cute kiddo time but also visiting the family cats!
Bonus FJIG: A book I’ve been on hold for forever was finally returned, nearly 2 months overdue! Yay for happy library holds pickup day!
February 12th: Leftovers in the fridge means dinner is already cooked.
February 13th: After clocking a 45-minute walk, I officially walked every day Monday-Friday this week! Yay! I rewarded myself with an afternoon of figure skating and crochet.
February 14th: A lovely day adventuring with Mr, featuring an enormous burger, a trip to Starbucks {of course}, and finding cats in the greenhouse.

Still too short to sell, but man: they are gorgeous!

and this one was so, so bright!

She wanted to come home with me: she even followed us into the store.
One of the biggest takeaways so far in this month-long project is definitely celebrating the small things. And I think we’re all discovering and embracing this too. As I mentioned in a comment somewhere: anyone can see the big things, but the small things are for our hearts. They are the things that speak directly to us, in the ways that we need. I look forward to seeing how many other small things spark joy the next two weeks!
Love this list ❤ Thanks for sharing and participating. And YES to the “little things.”

Rebecca, maybe you need a cat! Just saying…
I love your last paragraph. I agree- the value in this exercise is noticing and appreciating the small thing. Everyone is going to be happy when all the big things are going our way- we don’t need to look for those. But if we can enjoy all the little things, every day can be sparkly.

I mean, I probably do need a cat! LOL! However, after getting married and then going back to Mom’s house … I discovered I am actually very allergic to cats! 😬 So for now: no kitties. Once we’re more permanently settled, Mr has promised me barn cats to hang out with the chickens and (hopefully) sheep.
One of my goals in life is to never lose sight of the sparkly ❤

The sun coming out always naturally seems to brighten your mood and it sounds like the chickens have been keeping you entertained. The pansys love lovely and I’m glad that library book was returned at last. I dont think I’d have been able to leave the cat in your shoes. Once it followed me into the store I’d have had to have been dragged away 😂 love your words at the end of this post too 🥰🥰

It was very, very tempting to cuddle the cat(s) and try to smuggle one out – but I think they’d have been missed. 😂 The chickens are beyond entertaining 🙂
