Glimpses of May

As many pictures as have already been shared for the month of May, I’ve still got more! I feel like things really started to wake up and show off in May {gearing up for an active and thriving Summer perhaps?}, and so we’re going to have a photographic recap of the bits and bobs left behind from other posts. This is going to be text-light, but I will provide captions.

My souvenir mug from Echo Mountain Inn.

Spoiler: After setting the tone with all our foodie adventures in the mountains, May continued to be a month of absolutely fabulous dining experiences.

Our first {and only} harvest of peas …
… became the most delicious pea pasta dish ever.
This salad was so amazing that I ordered it on two separate
girl lunches during the month.
Finally got another one of these chicken sandwiches,
after missing the lunch menu slot for … over a year, ha.
Bakery goods are always a good idea.
The first fresh strawberry run!

When I say the world is waking up and showing off, I do mean all of it – from the skies to the wild things to the blooming things.

The sunsets have been shining the deepest warmest gold.
Stars doing their part in a watercolor sky.
Also: twinkle lights are a year-round need.
Our little snapping turtle friend returned!
Bird tracks in a mud puddle:
We were all excited about the rain.
This year’s Valentine rosebush: Julia Child
I resisted the temptation to “deadhead” over the winter,
and this hydrangea is a beauty!
Flew through this reread,
then had brunch with girlfriends to discuss.

After a month of so many small delights, I am looking forward to seeing what the Summer brings. My hunch is more color, crazy chicken antics, and a lot of delicious garden feasts to say the least.

I hope your May also held an abundance of small joys and delights, and June brings so many moments to make you smile.

  1. Wonderful photos! You have so many gorgeous blooms! I am also partial to the peas. They look so perfect and fresh lined up in their little pod. And wow, that pasta looks delicious. I am a sucker for a good pasta with peas.

  2. Aww yay how cute to see the turtle making a return. I still find it wild that they wander freely where you are and just randomly appear in your garden 😍 I also love a mug souvenir.  I got a Mary Poppins one in the supermarket to remind myself of seeing the musical live on stage 😅

That salad looks lovely, I can see why you’ve had it multiple times. Do you mean only pea harvest so far, or have they stopped growing?

Also the strawberries!! So many 🤯 love all of your flowers too. Its wonderful seeing everything start to bloom at this time of year.

    • I also find it wild when he randomly shows up in the yard, lol … There is a pond, but it’s across the driveway and a pasture, so it’d be a hike to come into my yard. With no standing water. 😂

The only pea harvest total 😦 I’m not sure if the weather got to them or what, but the little plants just couldn’t keep going. We got maybe a handful more peas, but not enough to cook/really eat. But they were an experiment/new variety, and now we know: delicious, but not enough of them 😂

I was actually picking up strawberries for us + 3 other households 😉 But they made my car smell soooo good! 😀

      • Obviously he’s a fan of your garden 🥰

Oh no thats such a shame. I’m sorry to hear that they didn’t do overly well. At least you got some peas out of them I guess. Pretty sure my sunflowers won’t flower since the slugs attacked them 😒

Ah it did seem like a mega batch 😅 hope you all enjoyed them.
