I know many aren’t ready for Summer to end, but I find myself very ready for Fall. The light shifted weeks ago, the garden is showing “end of season” signs, and schools are back in session. Plus, I am tired of sweating just from walking outside. While counting down the days until the ‘Ber months return, I’m trying to squeeze in a few more Austenesque reads and titles from my Summer Reading wishlist. But I’m also looking ahead. Fall books have started releasing, with more to come {and then Christmas books!}, so it’s time to make another reading wishlist.

These backlist picks actually live on my bookshelf, and I am determined to read them this Fall. Especially with Christmas-oriented sequels for 2 of them releasing in the near future.

The first of the new releases, these are already available for the reading. I have loved Julia McKay’s Christmas books in recent years, and am very excited to dive into this one.
I didn’t notice at first, but my “upcoming releases” are spaced out one-per-week for September, which feels like very nice pacing. Whether they get read in that order {or timing} is anyone’s guess, but it made me smile when I realized.

- Falling Since Then
- A Season for Falling
It would have been so easy to keep adding books, but I tried hard to prioritize my selections. A process made more difficult since “Fall fiction” seems to be the hot new thing. {Apparently I’m not the only one who loves that golden transition season}. There are also quite a few more new and upcoming releases than featured here, but again: this is my reading wishlist for 2026.
Do you make seasonal TBR or reading wishlists?
Are any of these on your Fall reading radar?
Have I left one off of my list that you think I would enjoy/should check out?
My reading doesn’t tend to be season, with a few exceptions — March tends to get baseball stuff for Opening Day anticipation, April is all about England, I usually do a Blast from the Past or Space Camp Week in high summer (late July / August — Space Camp is getting harder to do because I’m running out of astronaut memoirs XD), and I’ll try to do some devotional reading in Lent and Advent. SOMETIMES I’ll do a horror/scary book in October, and every so often I’ll find a Christmas-type book I’m interested in tying. IT’s rare, though. It’d be a dull world if we weren’t all different, though.

I’d like to try an Advent-type read one year – maybe I’ll find one this year. Thinking back, I’m fairly certain my “seasonal reading” only developed once I was in the library, LOL. There was a little bit during my initial book blogging days, but it was more from joining various reading challenges. Dedicated Christmas reading definitely didn’t happen until I was in the library and seeing so many intriguing ones come across the circulation desk, and it evolved from there. The one exception being Sarah Dessen books for Summer – those have been “my jam” for a very long time. 🙂
And if we all read the same way/things at the same time, nobody would ever get their paws on books! 😉

I don’t think I’ve ever been more ready for fall than I am this year. I hope the temperatures will play nice – I’m so tired of being overheated, lol. Looking forward to cool, crisp days, pumpkin lattes and of course, fall themed books!

Yes, yes, yes! This morning, for the first time in months, it was warmer inside my house than it was outside! 😀 This is a promising sign of things to come, and I’m so ready 🙂 Here’s to cooler days and the coziest reads! ❤

I am ready for Fall too. I don’t make seasonal reading TBR lists.

I’m so used to making seasonal TBR lists {or wishlists}, it’s easy to forget I’ve not made them very long myself, haha 🙂
Here’s to a glorious Fall and the very best reads for you! ❤

I am also SO ready for fall! It’s my favorite time of year because of the cooler weather and beautiful colors. All of these book covers appeal to me with their cozy fall vibes. Yes, I do judge a book by its cover. I don’t really make seasonal reading lists, except I like to read a Christmas book in December. Autumn at the Cat Cafe looks so charming, I may have to get that one!

The older I get, the more I am a Fall Girl 😀 I am so excited about it coming soon … and we’ve had our first truly cooler nights in ages, and it’s SO GOOD.
Aren’t these covers so dreamy?! I totally judge by covers as well, and these just all work so good. The Cat Cafe looks and sounds super adorable – I snagged a copy for my Kindle, and am quite excited 🙂

I love the aesthetics of all these covers together, they’ve really leant into the fall colour palette it seems. I especially love how warm and cosy the Cat Cafe one looks with the lights around the tree. I recognise a couple of titles (and am intrigued by the flying books). I’m mostly hoping to read some of my owned high priority titles over the fall and catch up on any remaining reads from my 2026 most anticipated releases post (I’m determined to read everything from part one for once). For books with fall vibes it would be great to squeeze in Where The Dark Stands Still, The Thirteenth Tale and Book Eaters too though.

I totally take cover vibes into consideration when picking reads, lol, and these are so so good 😀 When I was laying them out to make the graphics, I was like “ooooh, look how these go! The trees almost match!” LOL
I’ll be cheering you on to finish at least Part One of your releases! 😀 That’s an impressive achievement {as I stare at the unread books I absolutely had to have right away}. And yay for some having vibes that would fit Fall! 🙂

Covers with fall vibes are really good at catching my eye. They’re just so pretty 😍
Thank you, I’m hoping it’ll go well but I have my doubts that I’ll manage it 🙈 but I’ll try my best. And if I do fail I’ll just have to make sure I priotise things better next year as I’ll definitely be attempting the same thing with 2027’s list

I have so many books on my fall hopefuls list. LOL. I hope to read Twig’s Traveling Tomes next week or so.
I am so tired of the humidity here. It’s gross. I sweat walking to my LFL. Michigan needs to get it together.

I thought my Summer wishlist was out of control, but this Fall one could have gotten gargantuan rather too easily, LOL
Twig’s Traveling Tomes sounds right up your alley 🙂
Ugh. Yes. The sweat is real. I have never sweat as much as I have this Summer … and it’s just gross, lol
Here’s hoping we both get cooler temps and lower humidity! ❤

I have tried to do seasonal reading a couple of times (for Halloween and/or Christmas), and I really enjoyed it. When my daughter was younger, it was fun to do holiday-specific books around the winter holidays. I kind of miss that, TBH, but I am not a fast enough reader to get through any holiday books in the month of December. Maybe if I started in November I could get through at least one… but that requires more planning ahead than I am typically capable of!

Seasonal/holiday reading with kiddos is such a fun thing – I loved finding all the new books and helping make the displays for those at the library 🙂
I have to start my Christmas reading in October to make sure I can get to the ones catching my eye! 🤣

[…] On the Blog:It was a slow month for posting, but I was able to give a garden report and share our amazing August feasts. There were cow-induced smiles and a look ahead at Fall-themed reading. […]

I completely agree with you about being tired of sweating just from walking outside. Summer heat always makes my knees and lower back feel a bit heavier, so cooler autumn air is a very welcome change. Your reading list looks delightful, especially Autumn at the Cat Cafe. I tend to read a bit more myself once the light shifts and the evenings start drawing in early. There is something comforting about settling into a cozy story when the garden starts showing those end of season signs. Good luck getting through your backlist before the Christmas titles start arriving!

Right? I don’t mind sweating when I’ve been working outside, but I should have to do more than simple walk out the door 😂 Thankfully the seasons have shifted and it actually feels like Fall today! 😀
Yes and yes to settling in with a cozy read when the garden starts winding down. The natural world is preparing for hibernation and a deep rest, and we should too 🙂 Thanks for the luck – I’ve knocked out a few of the Fallish reads so far, but those Christmas titles are starting to tempt, lol
Happy Fall and happy cozy reading to you! 🙂
