We have been eating well this Summer, leaning heavily on what our garden can provide, and August was another month of delicious and flavorful feasting. With some fun “extras” in the mix as well. Scroll on, but be warned: you might end up hungry!

Mr got blueberry; I got butter pecan.
This has been the Summer of pasta, and I am savoring every bite. I will be so sad to see the end of fresh pesto, but I keep reminding myself: Fall foods are coming!

August also featured a lot of fun sandwiches. When it’s too hot to cook, you get creative. And some of these have turned out fabulously!

Italian sandwiches, complete with pesto and burrata.

The new Chicken & Waffles sandwich is delicious!
From sandwiches to baked goods: We were able to squeeze in a visit to our favorite local-ish bakery. Everything is made fresh in-house, and with cases this loaded it’s always so hard to choose!

Cream Cheese “Danish” deliciousness.

The first loaf of Einkorn bread was made.

and brie toast on Einkorn bread.
There were a few girlfriend outings as well in August, and of course we had to include good food to pair with the excellent company and conversation.

Perfect lunch for Throne of Glass book club discussions.

I did warn you this post is likely to make you hungry, and we’re not quite done yet!

I wanted more coffee, but the caramel is good.

a busy day of projects around the house.

Mr got Karamel Krunch; I got Pralines ‘n’ Cream.
As the Summer garden continues to slow down, our flavors will be shifting and changing with the seasons. Although this week they’re forecasting more upper90s {why????}, which makes it hard to think about soups and other cozy things.
What was your favorite bite of Summer?
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Have you ever worked with puff pastry?
What Fall flavors are you looking forward to?
Everything looks so delicious

That all looks so delicious, Rebecca. We are going to have a warming trend this week here too 😦 90’s all the way. Even so, I’m thinking ahead to my fall soups! I froze some corn and some beans in anticipation of corn chowder and veggie soup! My new favorite ice cream flavor is Perry’s coffee and donuts! I grew up on Perry’s ice cream as it is based near Buffalo, NY, not too far from where I lived. It was a regional staple. I was thrilled to see it made its way into Ohio!

Yes, I keep reminding myself of all the yummy soups that will be entering the scene! 😀
Oooh, that ice cream sounds pretty good! And yay for being able to get it in Ohio now! 🙂

Everything looks amazing! My favorite bite of summer was a vine ripened tomatoe, which was a gift from my niece. My favorite ice cream is just plain vanilla – but a good brand with all read ingredients. Or homemade is even better. I’m looking forward to acorn squash!

YUM! Vine ripened tomatoes are such a delight 😀
Oh yeah, vanilla is definitely underappreciated – when it’s done right. I usually don’t eat much ice cream, but if/when I do it has to be the good stuff. The ice cream (and waffle cones!) at the farmstand is homemade, and you can taste the difference. 🙂
It has been so long since I’ve had acorn squash … maybe we need to try working some of that into our fall feasting!

Dill cucumber salad sounds EXCELLENT! I’m crazy for cucumbers. I grew up dipping them in vinegar and eating them as a snack.

Cucumbers are so dang good! We’ve probably eaten more than strictly necessary this year, but it’s been such a bumper crop. I love them in vinegar, I love them lightly salted, I love them in ranch … and all the cucumber salads, please! I also have a really good cucumber and cream cheese recipe – if I get one last batch in before the season ends, I’ll have to share the results 🙂

Cucumber salads are one of the best summer foods. I have a free ticket for a watermelon at the local fruit stand…need to cash that in!

Wow this post made me hungry even though I just had a proper lunch! lol..
My fav summer flavour was of course mangoes! The fruit, not the ice cream.
And my fav ice cream flavours have to be something chocolate with some crunch and a bit of salt☺️

When I was putting it together, I made myself so hungry too 😉 LOL
Yay for summer fruits! 😀 The end of watermelon season is swiftly approaching {the flavor has already changed}, and I’ll be so sad – but it’ll taste so good again next year.
Chocolate is such a good flavor, for ice cream or otherwise 😀

Wow making your own cream cheese danishes sounds ambitious, well done 🥰 those ice creams and the kale berry salad look delicious too. As do all the pastas and baked goods. It definitely looks like you had some wonderful treats.
We tried a new bakery near us and its lovely. They do those patisserie style cakes with the jelly like fruity layer to them as well as the type of cakes you’d expect. If its in, as they change, I want to try kiwi and yoghurt whenever I next go there.
I hope you get some soup weather soon 🤞

I will admit to using frozen puff pastry for the danishes 😉 But it was still my first time using that, so quite the learning experience! And also addicting: I’ve got more in the freezer and plans for new things to try 😀
The ice cream was so good, as was the kale. I’m ready for kale salads again.
Yay for a new bakery! That sounds like a fun experience 🙂 I love finding bakeries and taste-testing treats. Fingers crossed for soup season for everyone!

To be fair puff always looks very time consuming to make with all the folding in of the butter. I look forward to hearing what else you make with it in the future.
I think after this summer a lot of people are anticipating the cosy colder months 🤞
