In yesterday’s post, I made reference to balancing eggs on end during the equinox. It’s something I remember doing as a kid, thinking it was the coolest. So last night, I decided to give it a whirl.

According to Google, there is no real science to support the equinox-specificity of balancing eggs, and some results labelled it merely an urban legend. Urban legend, old wives’ tale, folklore, what-have-you … we only ever attempted this on vernal and autumnal equinoxes growing up. I even tried to stand the eggs on end earlier in the evening, and they would not balance. However, when I tried again, closer to the official point of equinox, they both balanced.
Having officially welcomed the changing of the seasons, today is hovering in the 58-60* range and it’s breezy and wet. Total hibernation weather, the perfect start to Fall!
This is so cool!! Something to remember for next year!

It really is the neatest thing! 😀
And I love the way it turned out looking with the tiny Pepper egg and the big Pippin egg ❤ hehe

How odd that you tried it earlier in the evening and it wouldn’t work. I’m going to have to see what happens next time I have an egg out if I try to balance it…probably a mess when it rolls off the counter 😂

You’ll have to let me know if you try it! I never think about it except for around the equinox, so I’ve never tried it at any random point of time 😂

That is so interesting! I’d never heard about it before. I’ll have to try it in the spring!
