After the insane reading month that was August, I was curious how September would go, especially knowing there’d be multiple SJM books in the mix {which impacts page count more than book count}. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was a slower month, and I even left a few books “stranded” to finish in October. September was busy, including a trip to Washington DC for our anniversary, so I am pleased with what I did read. And with Mr moving into a busy season at work, I anticipate a lot more evening reading coming my way.

📖 Empire of Storms | Sarah J Maas | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 Tower of Dawn | Sarah J Maas | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📱The Academy | Elin Hilderbrand & Shelby Cunningham | ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📖 Change of Plans | Sarah Dessen | ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📱 A Summer of Stars | Liana Cincotti | ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2
I impressed myself how fast I flew through the Maas books. Our book club discussion had to be postponed, which is letting me put off the Kingdom of Ash reread a smidge {I know that one is going to hit hard}. Once I finish Throne of Glass, I am going to dive back into ACOTAR and Crescent City, rereading both series before I pick up the new ACOTAR book releasing in a few weeks. I want to make sure everything is fresh in my head, and it will likely push my reading closer to the release of the next one in January. This TOG reread has been such a fun experience, I think I’m going to write a post {or series of posts} about my Maasverse journey.

My little library sign may not be counting up as quickly as it “could,” but it is increasing and I am enjoying the books I am reading. Between fallish books and the beginning of festive reading season, I anticipate a really good final quarter of reading.
Listening:
Y’all. I’ve been in a major audiobook slump: I started several, and they just weren’t working for me. I did manage to snag the audio of John Green’s new book, Hollywood Ending, and the masterful narration of Julia Whelan is keeping me listening. Hopefully the slump is over!
Watching:
A little bit of watching … as the days get shorter, I feel certain this section will expand. Especially with so many adaptations coming out! And new seasons of Gilded Age, The Diplomat and Rings of Power dropping over the next few months.
- 🎬 The Signal (2014) | Library DVD
This was referenced on a podcast Mr was listening to, so we borrowed it from the Library. Y’all. This movie is weird, and has no plot. The narrative went nowhere. Did I mention it’s weird? - 📺 What I Like About You (Season 2 & 3) | Netflix
While Mr was busy with work stuff, I decided to pick back up my rewatch. I’m realizing I have forgotten a lot more than I thought, and also that this show is very much of its era/time. It’s still amusing, and nice “brainless” entertainment though. Also: it’s interesting how much Amanda Bynes’s character in this mirrors her character in the movie What a Girl Wants.
On the Blog:
I felt like I was doing better keeping up with my post ideas, until I started writing this round up. Oops. Oh well, this is real life: sometimes there’s a lot and sometimes there’s not. I did share this year’s folklore forecast, which predicts a cold and snowy Winter. There was also a chicken update; random Tea Time chatter about seasonal odds and ends; tested the equinox-egg stand theory; and still managed to share some delicious eats. I also wrapped up the Summer of Jane and got ready to kick off year four of My Christmas is Booked!
Looking ahead, there will be a mini-series on our adventures/anniversary trip {and the food!}, as well as the first festive reading update. We’re about to get busy doing some Fall garden work, and it’s probably time for another flower farm update. As the temperatures swing lower, there will also be more cooking. Hibernation season is so close, and it’s time to start preparing!
