Washington DC: The food

For the full recap of our trip, don’t miss: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5

You know we love to eat, and when traveling, we love to find bakeries and pizzerias. And coffee. Coffee is very important in this household. Well friends, I’m here to tell you we were spoiled for choice in Alexandria: there’s a coffeehouse on every block, it seems! It’s also an amazing food destination, and we had the hardest time narrowing down our choices! Most of our meals ended up being in Alexandria, but DC itself has even more options. So many flavors, so little time. Next time we go, I’m sure we will have a whole list of potential dining options.

Our foodie discoveries are going to be grouped by “main meals” and “coffeehouse/treats,” since our pastry finds happened alongside the coffee most days.

RedRocks Old Town (Alexandria)

Probably the softest pizza crust I’ve ever eaten.

Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza (Alexandria)

As someone who doesn’t really like olives:
those particular ones were delicious.

Kramer’s (DuPont Circle)

Blood Orange Spritz Mocktail.
Chicken + Cheesy Herb Waffle.
Cheesesteak + Fries {they were so good!}

Bistro Du Jour (Washington DC)

This place had such cute vibes, down to the menus.
Can I have these tiled floors?

Tatte (Alexandria)

One thing about me: I love a panini-type sandwich.
Also: they don’t make tea like we do.

Fresh Baguette (Alexandria)

Plain croissant + Mocha latte. Such a French breakfast.

Mudhouse (Alexandria)

Iced Mocha + Cappuccino + Cinnamon Roll = afternoon snack.

Misha’s Coffee (Alexandria)

I got a Nutella latte, and it may have been the best hot coffee I’ve ever had.
The pastries were also amazing {I do not know the names}.
We went back the next morning;
I tried a seasonal cookie butter latte this time.

The Creamery (Alexandria)

There were 5 ice cream stores between our hotel and the river.
We picked this one, because it was local + homemade.
This is a small portion of the many options!
Coffee + Coffee Oreo waffle cones by the waterfront.

It’s safe to say we indulged in some delicious things while on vacation. {I admit we also hit up Chick-fil-A one night, because it was convenient}. Kramer’s was maybe the best meal + overall vibes, there was such an energy to the place {and it’s obvious 2 college campuses are nearby}. Our favorite coffeehouse was definitely Misha’s, and they even recognized us when we returned the next day. But there were many things left untasted, waiting for next time.
